DEPARTMENT: Gaming Commission POSITION: IT Security Specialist

SALAY GRADE: ($55,020 - $70,000) REPORTS TO: Executive Director

LOCATION: Carter Lake, IA

SUMMARY

This position will oversee the day-to-day operation of the Gaming Commission's Information Technology systems including PC, network and security solutions as well as ensuring compliance with the FBI's Criminal Justice Information Act. This position will also act as the PGC's Local Agency Security Officer (LASO).


Coordinate the development of the Gaming Commission information security and other policies, standards, procedures and processes. Work with the casino's IT department and Surveillance department to ensure that policies support compliance with external requirements. Oversee the dissemination of policies, standards and procedures to the Gaming Commission's departments, divisions and users.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assure that all data information created, acquired, received by or maintained by the Gaming Commission, and the information technology infrastructure is protected from external or internal threats. To assure that the Gaming Commission complies with statutory and regulatory requirements regarding information access, security, and privacy. This position will also develop and maintain comprehensive systems, network, and application documentation.
  • Function as the LASO per the Criminal Justice Information Services Security Policy to insure compliance with FBI CJIS Security Policy and all applicable security requirements of the criminal justice information network and systems.
  • Develop initiates, maintains and receives policies and procedures for the general operation of the compliance program and its related activities and train all authorized personnel on required CJIS compliance.
  • Identify, investigate and resolve issues of non-compliance.
  • Perform compliance checks on information technology systems and summarize findings in a clear and concise written report
  • Monitors all inventories and audit computer hardware inventories
  • Perform day to day administrative functions
  • Oversee the software verification process of the Electronic Gaming Devices for the Casino.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical training and 2-3 years relevant experience in, Information Technology, regulatory compliance implementation and testing Information Technology or relevant experience.

If no degree, five (5) years' work experience in IT Network administration.

Working knowledge or experience in the Local Agency Security Officer (LASO) responsibilities.

Experience with digital local area networks and network designs and integration, familiar with standard router/switch configurations, technologies, and network management protocols,

Ability to learn technical information relative to CCTV and the Surveillance equipment, specific to camera installations, cameral cleaning, wire labeling and follow up on basic troubleshooting and repair or manipulation of data using published software.

Must submit to drug testing.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

  • Normal to light office work, which includes the ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
  • Regularly required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard, phone, and various office equipment. Be able to use a ladder and a high degree of concentration is necessary.
