Wage: $15.25 to $20.72 per hour

Classification: Full-Time


Introduction:

The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska (PTN) is a Federally recognized Native American Tribe and as such, a sovereign autonomous government. Osni Ponca, LLC (Osni) is the "for-profit" mechanism created by and for the Tribe expressly to generate taxable Tribal revenue and to put Ponca people to work. Osni is managed by a CEO who reports to a Board of Directors. The Board of Directors reports to the Tribal Council.

Summary:

Successful applicant will keep records of financial transactions for Osni Ponca, LLC and other businesses/subsidiaries managed by Osni Ponca. Responsible for verifying, allocating, and posting details of all business transactions. Applicant must be familiar with accounting procedures and should have experience with accounting software program Quick Books. Knowledge of for-profit and non-profit accounting. Proven accounting experience required. This position will also assist Controller with projects as assigned - to include audit data collection, Human Resource audits, and projects.


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Maintain the integrity of Osni Ponca and the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska through all actions.
  • At all times, behave in an ethical and professional manner, bringing credit to Osni Ponca and the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska.
  • Maintain respect and sensitivity for the cultural environment.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of Osni Ponca, LLC & PEDCO ventures.
  • Assist with verifying vendor billing, creating bills in Bill.com, ensure proper documentation and prepare checks and check requests with documentation as necessary.
  • Enter payroll transactions into QuickBooks.
  • QuickBooks input to include sales, deposits, and credit card charges.
  • Maintain sales spreadsheets.
  • Produce and send invoices.
  • Accounts Receivables & Accounts Payable.
  • Reconciles and balances bank accounts.
  • Reconcile Credit Card accounts.
  • Compute, type, and mail monthly invoices/statements.
  • May compile reports to show statistics, such as cash receipts and expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, profit and loss, and other items pertinent to operation of business.
  • Research topics as assigned, generate reports.
  • Attend training classes as necessary/directed by management.
  • Learn/Master how to verify financial reports against documentation.
  • Filing, mailing, and other duties as assigned.

Relationships and Authority:

This position has no supervisory authority.


Working Environment and Physical Demands:

Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during work hours.

Professional business office. Casual business attire: formal business attire as required.


Qualifications:

Minimum:

  • Associate degree in accounting or related field or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Two years of general accounting experience.
  • Computer proficiency with Word, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint QuickBooks, and Access database programs.
  • Must possess knowledge of Accounting software programs point of sale systems.
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable.
  • Must successfully pass drug and alcohol testing, motor vehicle, education, character, and criminal background checks.
  • Able and willing to travel.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
  • One or more years of Tribal accounting experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Public Law 93-638: Indian Self-Determination Act.

Preference will be given to Ponca Tribe of Nebraska members or members of a federally recognized tribe. However, all qualified individuals are eligible.
