Introduction


The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska (PTN) is a Federally recognized Native American Tribe and as such, a sovereign autonomous government. Osni Ponca, LLC (Osni) is the "for-profit" mechanism created by and for the Tribe expressly to generate taxable Tribal revenue and to put Ponca people to work. Osni is managed by a CEO who reports to a Board of Directors. The Board of Directors reports to the Tribal Council.

This position is first and foremost a business development position that encompasses opportunity searches and capture plan development (proposal responses, pricing, contract compliance & reporting). It is also a catch-all position to assist with the upstart of new projects upon contract award, working with independent contractors, consultants, managers and executives from other parts of the Osni family of businesses. This role may prepare documents and reports to present from time to time, to Osni's Board of Directors in addition to reporting to the CEO.


This is a very hands-on role in terms of personnel leadership, sales, marketing, and business subject matter expertise often with direct client/customer interface and the ability to implement complex remedies from complex analytics. The right applicant must be an extremely knowledgeable individual in all facets of small business operations, profit/loss interpretation, marketing/advertisement acumen as well sales possessing all, with the characteristics of a self-starter/initiative-taking, people-first leader able to exceed at all responsibilities and duties and not adverse to filling a variety of roles performing many different tasks (a catch-all position).


Summary:

Successful applicant will engage in for-profit business development for Osni Ponca, LLC and co-work closely with the Osni Board of Directors. In hierarchical order; 30% of time is spent fostering an operational footprint for parent and subordinate businesses. 50% of time is spent in direct business development inclusive of scouring opportunity software/databases (searching), making one on one contacts with various Government and non-Government small business utilization offices (relationship building), exploiting HUBZone and 8a opportunities and developing proposal response templates and reference databases (research). 20% of time is spent as the primary liaison between Osni Board and Osni's executive staff.


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Maintain the integrity of Osni Ponca, LLC and the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska through all
  • At all times, behave in an ethical and professional manner, bringing credit to Osni Ponca and the Ponca Tribe of
  • Maintain respect and sensitivity for the cultural
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all
  • Research topics as assigned, generate reports from financial databases.
  • Validate opportunity and acquisition financial records/data and reduce to concise manageable reporting.
  • Develop and maintain business opportunity relationships.
  • With limited oversight, query opportunity generating software programs and perform initial review of found opportunities.
  • Manage Small Business Administration submissions and reporting.
  • Track program expenditures; create and/or verify reports.
  • Perform cold-call sales as necessary.
  • Assist with corporate-wide marketing strategies.
  • Attend and/or provide training classes as necessary/directed by
  • Assist with the strategic planning of projects.
  • Assist with budgeting/forecasting and corresponding revisions.
  • Track professional relationships with small business advocacy groups within/ outside of governments/Tribes and larger
  • Craft, develop, review, submit, and track proposal response documentation
  • Maintain database of frequently required proposal data to ease proposal build
  • Attend business functions with CEO and other Osni management or attend instead of CEO and other Osni management.
  • Liaise with Board of Directors (BOD).
  • Prepare, manage, and present reports/documents and data to BOD
  • Other duties as assigned in the furtherance of Osni's two primary mission



Relationships and Authority:

This position may have supervisory authority as directed by Osni CEO.


Working Environment and Physical Demands:

Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during work hours.

Professional business office. Casual business attire; formal business attire as required.


Qualifications:


Must have at a Minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting or directly related Direct experience may be substituted for formal education at a rate of 2 to 1.
  • Three years of general ledger/bookkeeping experience.
  • Computer proficiency with Word, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint, and Access database
  • Must possess knowledge of bookkeeping software programs and or point of sale systems.
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable.
  • Must successfully pass drug and alcohol testing, motor vehicle, education, character, and criminal background
  • Able and willing to

Preferred:

  • Three years business development
  • A firm grasp of construction processes, technology services and general understanding of e-commerce.
  • Experience navigating opportunity-generating software/programs.
  • Advanced degree or formal specialized training in business development processes.
  • One or more years of Tribal "for-profit" business development experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Public Law 93-638: Indian Self-Determination
  • Experience with local, state & Federal procurement procedures.
  • Experience developing and submitting formal business

Preference will be given to Ponca Tribe of Nebraska members or members of a federally recognized tribe. However, all qualified individuals are eligible.
